Buffalo Keepers is a pioneering initiative designed to offer teens and young adults the opportunity to conceive, plan, and execute community projects that address real-world ecological challenges. Through leadership training, hands-on stewardship, and environmental justice education, participants are equipped with the skills and knowledge to make a lasting impact on their communities. Program Options

At just $50/ hour for preparation and facilitation, the program is both affordable and impactful, making it accessible to a wide range of schools and organizations.

1-Day: A Day of Environmental Action

  • This intensive one-day session introduces participants to environmental stewardship and project management essentials. Through hands-on activities like eco-mapping, community clean-ups, and team-building exercises, students will gain a quick yet impactful introduction to leading community-based projects. Ideal for those eager to start making a difference in their community with just one day of commitment.’

  • Typical program: 1 day, 2-4 hrs (flexible)

1-Week: Foundations of Leadership and Justice

  • In this focused, week-long experience, participants will dive into environmental justice and leadership. They will engage in interactive workshops, nature journaling, and stewardship practice, honing their skills in project management, teamwork, and ecological awareness. This option is perfect for students looking to build a solid community leadership and environmental stewardship foundation quickly.

  • Typical program: 3-5 days, 1-3hrs a day (flexible)

2-Weeks: Environmental Justice in Action

  • Over two weeks, participants will explore environmental justice and sustainability in depth. They will work on projects like "Eco-Mapping Buffalo" and "Reimagining Buffalo: A Blueprint for Our Future" while learning about climate change, sustainable practices, and community engagement. This option offers a more comprehensive experience, ideal for students ready to dig deeper into their communities' challenges and solutions.

  • Typical program: 8-10 days, 1-3 hrs a day (flexible)

1-Month: Community Change Makers

  • This month-long experience immerses participants in the full spectrum of environmental stewardship and leadership. From planning and executing community projects to exploring advanced topics like the Just Transition and Healthy Soil and Sustainability Career Lab, students will gain hands-on experience in making a real impact. This option is designed for those who want to develop their leadership skills and contribute significantly to their communities.

  • Typical program: 15-21 days, 1-3 hrs a day (flexible)

Sustaining Leadership: A Summer of Impact

  • Spend the Summer transforming your community through this comprehensive, hands-on experience. Participants will lead long-term projects, from concept to execution, while engaging in workshops, field days, and creative sessions that cover everything from environmental justice to sustainable career pathways. This option is perfect for students committed to becoming future leaders in environmental stewardship, offering the most in-depth and transformative experience.
